Do you guys think website design is important? When shopping? Let’s compare sites and

Examine things a bit further. They both do a similar amount in sales, etc. So do you guys really think an amazing website design is worth it? I’m curious because I’m in the middle of a site re-design and wondering will the new site really be worth it?.. Lets say those "cheap" sites below upgraded to a new design, do you think they’d even benefit from it?

Here’s a few examples:

Poorly designed, over content filled, cheap looking sites:

VPS hosting: Verio or Hostgator?

A client is paying $90/mo for Verio hosting.

"Enhanced Plan"

It looks like you could get the same for less at Hostgator:

Plus IME Hostgator has better customer service (I waited for 10 minutes with no response at Verio; Hostgator helped me in like 15 seconds).

I have no personal experience with VPS so I defer to TWL’s expertise.

Should I have him change over to Hostgator?

I’d go with MediaTemple. (), Outstanding support, responsive service, flawless up-time, awesome control panel, etc..

PHP Include and Different Directories

So I’ve been trying to get this PHP include to work for 2 days now and I’m not having any luck.

The way my site is currently set up is "www.mysite.com/main/index.php" I have a link called classes.php

Here is the code:

<html>
<head>
    <meta charset="utf-8" />
    <title>TITLEtitle>
    <link href="main.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
</head>
<body>
    <div id="wrapper">
    <?php include("header.php"); ?>
    <?php include("nav.php"); ?>
    <div id="content">
    <p>Here are links to a bunch of classes. Click on one to learn more</p><br>
            <a href="classes/class1.php">Class1</a>
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>

Everything here works great. No problems. The problem is that "class1.php" is in a folder called "classes", and when you click on class1.php, it does not load the header.php or nav.php files. Here is the code.

Google Places is killing me: website won’t link with places page (to show reviews)

Sup all.

I have a small business in my community. About 7 other of the same businesses in the area.

When you search for the generic search term of my business we come up in the 2nd spot. This is awesome… except it’s not showing our google places page "linked" with it. Sometimes it will for about 24 hours but then it goes away again. We have 3x the number of reviews of all of our competition and they are all 5 stars. The problem is though no one see’s the stars because it comes unlinked.

Very amateur questions – need some direction

Hey everyone.. looking to throw together a very basic and quick site for some personal stuff. Nothing commercial or anything that I really expect the public to ever see.

To keep things in perspective the only web building I’ve ever done was with geocities 11ty years ago, and with wordpress a bit more recently. I’m thinking wordpress can help me achieve what I want to do below, but I’m not entirely sure how. If you can point me in the direction of a theme that would work for this, or of an even easier method I’d greatly appreciate it. The only other thing I can think of is to utilize a frame, which I’m fine with doing but I don’t know how to place all of the content on top of a background image if I use a frame.

Any OpenX users here?

I thought this script was supposed to be good, instead it’s giving me nothing but issues, and their website is a mess as well.

Any thoughts?

horrible. it used to be good. all kinds of programming errors and its slow as fuck.

I used to use it, until they got hacked and some asshole used an SQL injection to upload tens of thousands of blackhat SEO pages to my sites.

nice.
