kidd chris is a dj "shock jock" one of howard sterns buddies and he has the kid chris show….well i got the domain and the letter says since he has the term "kidd chris" trademarked that i am anticybersquatting or whatever….i did have the site up but have since took it down, ut the motherfucking domain is mine….this is such a mess….no lawyer in my hick part of the world knows a damn thing and if i can make a grand or some shit then i would like too…just sayin’

i think what got my on the cybersquatting is the fact i had it forwarded to another domain…of mine.
so if i just take the site down, i think i am ok in owning the domain….and if he wants to buy it he can….

Is your name Chris? That might help a tiny bit. Also not having a site on there doesn’t help…it would be better off actually having a real/valid site would be better.
Not sure how much you want the domain and how much trouble it is worth going through for it but you could check and make sure his trademark is valid and such. It also probably doesn’t help that it looks like he used to own the domain:

welp…..looks like i gotta hand it over, the firm was gonna take it on contingency but they are scared that the company that chris works for now will back him in the lawsuit….so tons o lawyers, but he did say that i am not really doing anything wrong since the trademark per say is not a real living person…..

people don’t understand that even if you’re broke, you have something to lose… it’s called a judgment. It fucks up your credit, and/or allows a person to collect wage garnishments/assets for a long time after awarded the judgment.

Common law trademarks are only protected in their geographic region.
"Cop Stop Donut Shop" might have been some successful 100yr old business in a well known Chicago suburb, but that doesn’t mean that it’s protected down in Dallas or anywhere else in the country for that matter. Only federally registered trademarks are protected nationwide. |
