C&C on new theme please

It needs something (other than more content), but I can’t figure out what..

The plan is for the skyline in the header to match each city subsite.. I’m just using the asheville domain to test the theme until I turn on city subdomains. The current skyline drawing is of Atlanta

I’ll have more links in the main nav when I receive some content I’m waiting on

maybe another background behind the fixed-width area to give it some depth? I also need to integrate the city name into the header somewhere.. maybe a stamp-ish design or something?

sidebar will have logos of retail locations and maybe a list of upcoming events

TIA

The content edges are not flush with the banner and menu bar.
I think the menu bar needs updating. The text looks fuzzy. The yellow for selected menu looks too dull. And the shadow between the two orange bars to me looks like a hint of dirt. I would also have the menu bar go into the banner a bit.

adding to this list..

the orange bar could be shorter, get rid of the excess & center the links. Center the copyright. Adding content will make the site look fuller.

You should consider doing a lava lamp kind of thing with your menu. The black highlight and underline doesn’t sit well with me for some reason.

not sure which "still" you mean.. we released v1 back in like June of last year (I took it down a few weeks ago since it was on Drupal6 and this is running on 7.. didn’t want to port it). This is v2. if you mean v2.. I was supposed to start in Jan but of course didn’t get any answers/materials until almost February when I had another project scheduled (immovable) until the first week of March, so I didn’t actually start on this until a couple of weeks ago.

location specific

I had been thinking that I’d just throw the city under the logo, but I do like this.. thanks.

Any ideas for a city-selection dropdown? Just because they’re near Asheville doesn’t mean they’ll only want to see Asheville, etc.

yeah with me, either, but I needed some confirmation about it. thanks

Haha all of that was actually intentional, but yep I agree. Thanks

So do you guys think I need to do anything to separate the full fixed-width area from the background around it?

I changed a ton of small stuff and think it comes together far better now. I need to change the logo and add content, but does anything else still stick out?

edit: The orange link color sticks out quite a bit right now, but I think it’ll seem less extreme when I get some of the retail location images into the sidebar

orange bar is an improvement over the last

Could use a little more style on the bottom of the orange menu bar, maybe a highlight or small gradient near the bottom.

Is the rest of the page for commenting as well? It’s very plain below the menu.

I couldn’t find a good way to do the dark bottom of the menu bar except as a border and css3 border gradients are still crap. Also, some pages will have a second level to the menu and that’s easier with a solid color at the bottom of the main.

yeah, doesn’t have much content yet.

I would add a bit more filler content to get a better idea of what it’ll actually look like. Pick different lengths of lorem ipsums I guess.
