What is the difference between the two? I’m guessing that Alexa basis their ranking on incoming links and the PageRank is the page a site shows up on Google.

Page rank isn’t based of traffic bro, it’s based on so many stupid things, and it updates at random.

Also, build back links from high page ranked sites. That helps a lot, too.

Maybe ask hostgator to move your site’s to a different IP address? More likely the IP is banned than all Hostgator sites..

It’s not just Hostgator, it’s the entire "The Planet" network as a whole. Too much spam coming from them.

and if i were you, id go with hostgator dedicated. magento is resource hog, i can take down any magento site if i make huge query search requests within a small matter of time.

make sure you have your execution time properly set for 30 seconds, and more than a certain number requests per certain amount of time cut off (host gator will write you this script).

I know….that’s what I want. I’ve got 2 managed VPS’s right now and I rarely ask for support on anything. On the few occasions I have, I usually end up solving the issue myself before they’re able to. Definitely not worth an extra $50/month imo.

Magento primarily needs fast disks (ideally SAS drives, for all the includes it does), plenty of RAM and fast PHP execution.

The best way to run Magento is with an instance of memcached, as well as with PHP opcode caching (e.g. APC).

Dedicated hardware tends to be better for Magento than virtualization, but that’s more of a slur against most companies’ virtualization setups more than anything.

if youre really getting that much traffic to a store you should be able to afford a managed dedicated box @ liquid web. you’ll want that support to install the necessary shit for magento…
