hosting for a ‘honker’ of a wordpress site?

DB has reached 750mb.

Front end loads are okay, but making edits in the dashboard takes 60 seconds, or simply times out.

Should I look into multiple "load balanced" servers?

Can you recommend a company?

Inmotion is being pretty ghey.

I think I’d be more focused on cleaning that DB up to get the size down a good bit.

Nothing more to trim.

It’s a store with 75k products.

That’s really not even very big. No you don’t need load balancing or anything of that nature, you just need a host/server that isn’t dog shit.

Google is allowing WordPress on their App engine now. I’ve been wanting to try it, but haven’t had the opportunity yet.

Load balance shouldn’t come into play on 750 meg database. Standard setup should take care of it just fine. If you are in a shared setup then I can understand it.

why is a store with 75k products using wordpress?

Because it’s easy.

Once again, quit fucking around and contact wpengine.

they blow

liquidweb set me up with a solid-state drive stand alone server

you’re welcome

magento is more of a resource hog with useless widgets

but still may be a better shot than shitty architecture wordpress ecommerce plugins meant for like 10k products max.

I was the biggest magneto evangelist on here for a while. after years of sticking with it, I now avoid it when I can. It’s just too much of a pain in the ass and 99% of the extensions are poorly coded so I won’t use them.

magneto 2 is better, though. right now we’re urging the devs to make an official switch to twig or something similar to it
