How much money have you made?

Me, 50 bucks. Glad to say I made that much back, it’s what I’ve invested. Never got paid for my time but I’ve learned a lot in the process.

Yourselves?

are you talking affiliate shit? per web site design? weekly? monthly? yearly?

I wanna know this too, cause they are all different amounts. If you’re talking affiliate stuff, I’ve made like $200 lifetime. If you’re talking ad revenue, I’ve made about $95,000 and if you’re talking starting and flipping sites, we’re talking $105,000

Never got into affiliate stuff, though me thinks I should

i have never done anything you have done, I have had sites I have had for fun in the past, but mostly I do web designing for clients now

$3,000 for that is pretty bauce

Net maybe $400-500. I get into AM once a year or so and go hard for a month. Never really takes shape into anything.

a pretty fair amount, but…. not enough. i’ve been at "it" full-time for years now, though..

I make in a month what people make in a year.

damn son, affiliate stuff or what?

yeah aff stuff, been doing it for 6 years. Read up on me

What niche has worked best for you?
Health related offers. Everyone is concerned about their image.

Seriously you need to take better care of yourself.

I have health problems beyond my control I’ve found after having tests done, I’m looking and arranging a gastric bypass actually.

Get back to work and make mad scrilla.

Well it is important because people have certain bills to pay. If someone is making 1k a month then it’s good to get a glimpse at what they’re doing and how hard they are working so you can attempt to emulate that in your own way. I’ve made around 20 dollars since I made this post just fartin around, I’m beginning to become really inspired and see that I have a lot of potential if I invest more time into this.

This is good because this is Offtopic, not some scrubby black hat site filled with saucy ass 14 year old Indian kids. Those places are nightmares. Here we actually have some educated adults who can engage in productive conversation and don’t lash you to death for the most minor infringement, we should really make use of this environment. It is more conductive to success then any other sites simply because of the people who frequent it.

Actually it’s not at all important how much money you make in the sense that you’re saying ($1000/month.) What’s important is that you make good business decisions. The moment you realize it’s not about comparing your e-penises but more about quality decision making is the moment you turn into a businessman. When I started out, I didn’t have a "goal" of making X amount/month. My goal was to make decisions based on risk vs reward and long term expected value. Even if it was as small as risking $2 to make $1, or $200 to make $100, if I knew the success rate was going to be greater than 66% then it’s a good decision and I should keep doing it until it doesn’t work any more. It’s this process of churning and grinding these small edges that make people successful. Most people don’t understand that or don’t know how to apply it which is why they fail. If you did you wouldn’t be making this thread.

BTW, offtopic is the same as any other site. You have your winners and your losers, but most are in between.

I find that affiliate marketers are the ones that want to compare their what they make with others. Personally I am building a business and prefer to build sites for clients and do graphic design instead of affiliate marketing and what all that brings, but that is me.

This forum used to be a great place to come and talk about web design and get help that way, but more and more it is turning into an affiliate marketing subforum

yo shoot me a pm with your contact details it won’t let me pm you.

Well my philosophy is quite different. To me there are only three things involved: ethics, fear and your bottom line.

You simply have to figure out what you’re comfortable with doing and then rake in the money. And of course a lot of courage is involved because there is always concern of reprisals (if you’re dabbling in black hat, or even if you don’t want to expose your white hat site to risk).

It seems to me like it is difficult to define what a quality decision is. A decision is always a crossroads, but what makes it a good decision is one in which you are well rewarded financially for doing something that you are comfortable with and can have you sleeping soundly at night.

Well affiliate marketing has always been the bigger piece of the pie. On thevault.bz they claim that 27% of the people there who’ve made money have done it through Affiliate marketing. So you can’t blame people for using what works.

My experiences building my own websites has been negative. It seems like a massive amount of toil in order to play into Google’s favor, who can just as easily have some program dismiss you and force you into obscurity at the drop of a hat.

Yeah. I can tell that I know how to make a similar figure through Amazon already. I’m just too afraid to continue working right now because I’ve already earned a significant figure and it’s imperative not to lose that by pissing them off. How do you promote your site? Can you PM me it? I made an Amazon site and it didn’t work out at all, I need to see something that works.

I was confused at first too. hehe

Thomor’s legit. I really wish he’d let me come over and just let me watch him do his thing for a few hours.

Aye yo, you going to be at ASW in Vegas in Jan, right? If I go, I for sure wanna meet up with you, bro.

I really, really want to get into fb/pof traffic. Shit, just media buys in general. All my shit is still with mailing, son.

lol I didn’t promote it at all except through backlinking for keywords.

Nice. What’s the site, if you don’t mind? Or just PM me if you don’t wanna post.

correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the vault a forum for affliates and shit like that? and if so at using them for your stats

and affiliate may earn you more money, I just don’t put you guys in the same category as web designers, developers or coders, sorry, but it is not the same

and finally you are doing it wrong, i have never had google deindex any of my sites and send me into obscurity, does it happen, yes, but it is usually ones that bend the rules or use black hat and it happens to them, play it straight and narrow and you got nothing to worry about

a good redesign on that site could easily double your profits.

I’ve made $103 total! YEAH!

Off of advertising. Hey, MoreDown, you got any tips BRO?

but first you need to get an AV

I don’t really take on partner every time has ended bad.

Thormor, would you recommend that if someone is interested in this sort of thing that they work a regular job for a little while in order to buy some quality equipment?

You run a site called Wall of Monitors and this must obviously help you. So do you believe it is more worthwhile to invest a couple thousand into quality equipment rather then trying to make all that money with one monitor, one computer?

The monitors helped me in what I was doing at the time, I work from my macbook air now, it all depends on what you are doing exactly to make money.

Yeah, did all the work myself with limited knowledge of CSS/PHP, all manual backlinking and content writing. so the money was all profit at least.

u srs? i made my first dollars on a netbook. screen real estate doesn’t make much of a difference when you’re starting out.

your loss

nothing yet

just started tho

Not really lol more like my gain.

Having 11ty monitors and over 9000 gigs of RAM will help you if you can make use of all of that. But if you can’t make a little money with a normal computer and one monitor, chances are you won’t make any money with a pimp setup, either.
