OK SRSLY BROS

Have website idea.

Have extremely detailed notes describing proposed functionality and content.

Need website built.

No idea where to start

How do I get an approximate cost and start having this shit built without divulging the entire game plan? I realize NDAs are a joke, but I dont want to get zuckerberged

I once worked on a project like this. I paid a consulting fee to a guy here in Austin, he told me what kind of coding/technologies would be needed, how many hours it should take, approximate cost, etc

You should be able to tell them what you want the site to do without giving away the whole business plan.

Once I had an idea of what I needed to ask for (jquery, php, sql, etc) then I bid it out overseas and had a few teams respond with pricing

Thanks for the info.

Did your project ever get to completion? If so, how was it communicating with people overseas? How easily did you get your idea to built as you had envisioned it?

if u dont know anything about programming its gonna be hard.

overseas people are straight forward and easily get annoyed.

Talk to a systems analyst someone who can translate your thoughts/ideas into an actual design then farm out the coding.

have fun getting shitty project from overseas.. All they are good for prototypes.

We ended up changing directions with the project and never got it off the ground. Even if you get a good team of programmers overseas, its difficult to communicate with them at times. They have no mind of their own, you have to tell them every little step to take, little by little. Which can get a little frustrating at times, but if you know that going into the start..it makes it easier to get the project moving along.
