Okey dokey guys. Need your input.

I have the domain. Think I’m going to use gallery server pro or gallery. Just need to know how to setup the computer to be the ‘domain’. What I mean by that is usually with a webhost you forward the DNS to your host and whalla it works, but if I’m using my own computer how do I do this?

Got many gigs of pictures. didn’t want to shell out 10 bucks for hosting per month. Would not like to worry about my sister or cousin wanting a couple gigs of files several times a month and then looking at my bill and

Why not?

because it is much easier to pay hosting, less down time, and not every isp is kosher with you running a webserver at home

this is kinda fun… this II7 thing is cool. Looks just like a webhost. I know I’m doing some things in the wrong order. That’s all the hickup is I think.

To respond. If they have a problem with me using my measly 56mb/s upload ability then I’ll hear from them. Until then I’m going to do what I am allowed to do while not reading their fine print.

ohh.. and I’m not exactly looking for ‘easy’. ‘easy’ is money. knowledge is money in your pocket. 😉

Starting to figure this out. 😉 2 hrs later

Don’t know if you got this worked out but I’ve done this. I’ve used a free dyndns acct. You don’t need a purchase a host name this way …

a .info name was 89 cents.

You can still do a dyndns acct, not sure if they all allow forwarding of .info domains though … worth checking into. Like I said I used one and it worked nicely.
