paid gig: minor CSS coding for shopify page, and ShareASale manager/ad designer

Needing help with a couple different things.

I have a current working template based Shopify store, I need some simple changes done. It should be some simple/minor CSS coding. Need to change the color/gradient of the menu bar and possibly some homepage gallery re-skinning.

Also, I need someone to help getting a ShareASale merchant account moving. Need some help with ad design, and recruiting affiliates.

So you decided to go for the in house affiliate thing afterall? …figures after I just got done setting up my amazon store in an attempt to earn commissions that way lol.

I might be able to help a little with ad design depending on what you are looking for. And recruiting affiliates might be somewhat easy if starting with some of the big related sites…especially if you can send them a few products to giveaway as well (freebies+affiliate links = money and free traffic for them).

no use as far as helping with CSS though, from me lol.

You need to learn css it comes in handy

Unbelievable the amount of people in this industry cannot write a little CSS.

too many seo and internet marketing people using wordpress, they don’t even realize knowing css would help them with wordpress or other cms’s

I know and I’m sure I will but as you said in the next post, wordpress has made me lazy to anything new.

Hey I know html at least…. I started with CSS but that’s about when wordpress took off so I spent the time building and expanding rather than learning the foundations.

I’m like a lot of others in the industry where I can easily figure things out from looking at the code though…copy/paste king lol. Same thing with php.

I know it’s smarter to get in there and learn it all but when it comes down to it, with limited time, it’s either spend time learning or spend time building something that will make money right away. The building is usually more fun too

But I do realize the people making the real fortunes in this industry are the ones that can code exactly what they want when they want.

HTML is worthless now without knowing CSS, plus knowing css comes in handy with wordpress too

I don’t even know HTML 5

Of course I’m overstating my lack of skills a little but I rarely have a problem getting things to do what I want…as long as there is something already there to work with and edit. I wouldn’t be able to code it up from scratch anymore with CSS and such.

But when it comes down to it, nothing I have "built" yet would have really made any extra money had I known CSS better. And I’m only building sites for myself rather than clients so I’m ok with this.

it’s like we’re the same person

and this is why this subforum has gone down the shitter

I also tend to undersell myself. However, let’s be honest here, Pepsi you’re no where near as good as you think you are. I’ve seen your sites.

But more importantly it’s a hobby, not something I depend on as a job. Big difference.

I have never said I was great, but I am making a living at it and getting better everyday

and I did not put you down, all I said was this was why this forum has gone down the shitter, but this forum used to be where we could come in here and ask questions about coding, now all it is about traffic, adsense, seo and rarely about coding

It’s the webmaster lounge not the code monkey lounge.

Last time I checked webmaster, which in itself is a retarded term, includes those things you mentioned. If it were just for coding I think Ot’s programming subforum would be more suited, no?

There are several different programmers out there, there are still people that actually write program that are for computers and have nothing to do with writing code and that was what that subforum was created for

and I have came to the rescue of a few of you that rely on wordpress and have helped you out with css problems or coding problems, so coding and css does come in handy for everyone

and you guys have slowly took over this subforum, but in the beginning it was more related to coding and talking about html and what ever and less to do with affiliate marketing

well then you don’t have an excuse – with wp there is something already there to "work with and edit", its called a stylesheet

appearance>editor>style.css

you don’t need to be a genius to right click > inspect things on the front end, find them in the stylesheet, and modify them as needed

when you start seeing those same classes, id’s, etc. in the php files and you look up anything you don’t recognize here:

then you will be on your way to teaching yourself css in like 5 minutes

I have a hard time believing you can know that for sure

.

.

seems to me some of you affiliate marketing gurus and SEO maestros are using CSS with wp and don’t even realize it

uhhh Pepsi man, most of us have been in here from the start…and yeah, sure, some of it was just "regular" website owners trying to learn "normal" website stuff there has always been a larger percentage of threads geared towards making them more popular (traffic, SEO, link building…) so in the end to "make money" in most cases. No one "took over" anything…it’s always been part of it

yeah I know, that is exactly what I am talking about . It’s always already there to edit as needed, which isn’t a problem. I was saying I didn’t know it enough to write a clean code site from the ground up anymore unless basic HTML…but why bother, is my point .

sorry Redsand187 lol…seems the tread went way off track.

I learned the majority of what I know about coding (html, css, javascript, sql & php) just from using that site and their interactive tutorials. I doubt many people code in notepad++ like me anymore though

Once again, "you that rely on wordpress…" Dude you’re in this group whether you admit it or not. Also, I don’t think any of us rely on it. Those of us who choose wordpress do it because we want shit done easy, fast and it’s for our personal stuff. I see no problem here. If we were trying to make a business and sell sites to people sure, but no.

This subforum has never ever been all about coding. Not even close. Mostly it’s been about traffic, design and pr

You going through menopause or what? I can’t be the only one that has noticed the change in you. Get off your high horse already Not trying to take the arguing further but shit man, you okay?

While you have a point that this forum has never been purely about coding, at one point there was a time when technical questions, theories, OTers getting together to compare test cases, etc was dominant.

Most of those people have stopped posting in here.

yes and a lot them were banned for being shady as well

"A lot of them". One person was banned for being shady

The luxury fag, Josh, Robb, Robb’s sidekick, etc

Luxury dude was never a developer. He was a scammer and was an SEO guy. Not much different than most of you, except you’re alive.

No I don’t rely on wordpress, I have used it, and it serves a purpose, but out of the last 10 sites I have built for clients, one was done in wordpress, the rest were html

And fine it is not all about coding, like Kingtoad stated it was a lot more technical than it is now, and that includes coding

and there is not much asked about design currently, it is traffic, adsense, and seo mostly

I am done discussing it, it is not going to do any good, even if you go look at the last couple of pages of this subforum and compare it to now, the ones that want to argue about it will not admit that there was a lot more technical threads and what not and they out numbered the affiliate threads and seo threads

and Kingtoad is right, most of the ones that were part of those discussions no longer come in here and it is not because they are banned

It’s all poop.
