Given the idea is successful, I’m curious about numbers. I’m aware it’s lucrative, but I’m more wondering about ROI as we’d have to outsource the developer(s).
I’m mildly ignorant.. okay really ignorant when it comes to mobile apps. What’s the going rate for a developer and what would be a conservative projection for an average app on Android and iPhone? Would it be more cost effective to use just Android?
I’ll Google the hell out of a lot of this when I get some free time later this evening, but I’m about to walk into a meeting and wanted to address this there.
Thanks.
Alot of what I have done has been HTML/CSS/JS and a wrapper. This keeps alot of the code the same.
Not really enough info to make a decent judgement but $30-75/hr depending on who you get, and well timeline simple apps you would be looking at 50-75hours thats for both platforms.

Thank you.
I charge $150/hr
But i get shit done like a fucking boss.
Realistically, it is like building a house. How much do you want to spend for what you want. You can’t give an "Estimate" without knowing scope.

I’m just looking for estimates to take to the guys who write the checks. We have a couple of ideas for apps… so.
And we are willing to spend whatever it takes to get the best development at a reasonable price.. whether reasonable is $30/hr or $100/hr.
an estimate for what exactly? we (I) still have no idea what you want developed
One of the ideas is a fairly simple game(or simple from my perspective in my opinion). FPS in that you see the gun, things run across the screen.. you shoot them.
cocos2d is where you want to go for iOS dev, I am sure they have a "Hire" forum somewhere
+1
Ignore my post if its a game..
Is this a game, make a mobile friendly site you can put in a store, or what?
Making other people apps is what I/the company I work for does…. Toss out a genre or pattern of you app(s) and you will get much better numbers.
I see it varying from web work rates for simple web site conversions, to real deal software development money for more complex stuff (you are playing with a C-language derivative…. make no mistake, shit isn’t trivial).
As for Android stuff… yeah we do that too. A lot of our clients want cross platform stuff. The price *really* depends on what you are doing. Without having a better idea, I don’t see how you could have a ballpark. For example, a game that relies heavily on hardware accelerated 3d style graphics is not going to have a lot of code reuse, and will basically have to be developed twice. Porting a website on the other-hand (or something that pulls and displays data from web services) can be done much easier/cheaper.
It appears your PM’s are full as well….. hit me up if you don’t wanna broadcast your idea but need a better idea of what’s up. I don’t mind yacking about it.
Im getting a game coded right now. Art, sound, and gameplay. Im paying $15000 for the whole thing.
Its 1 month behind schedule thou…. hurray for Serbs.
