that ftc site has videos? I fucking hate it when I click on something that is supposed to be informative and it’s a video. I don’t want to watch a video. I want an article and/or summary.

Article:
– skim it, find important points, profit

Video:
– wait for it to load

– potentially wait for non-youtube shitty proprietary video software to insall
– have to skip through vid to hopefully find pertinent parts OR waste time watching entire vid

I hate videos.

I don’t know why they’re so valued for SEO, either. From the people I’ve talked to, everyone else hates videos (not including time-wasting videos on youtube) as well.

edit – at least those videos were short, but still. Annoying.

So what’s gonna happen now with all these affiliate "review sites" where the company obviously never sent them a copy of anything to review Do they just say "this is an affiliate link, if you buy thru this link I get monies?"

Does this affect non-review affiliate sites?

For example, if you’re blogging about subject xyz, and you link to a book on amazon.com using your affiliate link and the book is "XYZ for dummies", you’re not saying it’s a review or that the product is good, you’re just saying "hey you might also be interested in this."

In that case, does it still need the affiliate disclaimer?

Considering there will be 100 million of those out there, and 99.9% of them not misleading in any way I’d guess you would be safe without doing so. I doubt the FBI is gunna come knocking on your door for pushing self help books, or fishing for dummies. I got a feeling their more worried about the rebills and ‘diet’ products with the fake testimonials.
