WordPress Database migration help

So, I think I have a simple question, but I am such a beginner with WordPress I managed to bungle the whole thing.

So, I ran a wordpress blog at say . I decided to switch hosts, so I backed up the entire server directory by copying/downloading the entire wordpress directory with my FTP client and placing a copy on my hard drive.

I now have hosting through Dreamhost. I did a simple one-click custom install through their automated setup. After wordpress is installed, I now have a simple blog setup with a new database and all that jazz.

What I’d like to do is just copy and paste the entire backup-wordpress directory into the new dreamhost server, and modify wp-config.php. What modifications should I make to it?

The mysql.marvel.com address didn’t change. I guess only the database did. But, from here, I have no idea what I should be changing.

Any advice? And, again, sorry this is such a simple question. I tried reading the codex, but not that much of it made sense. :-/

Ok, if the sql server didnt change then you just need to modify the wpconfig and point it towards the old sql server and db. Be sure to change the domain information in the db or else you will get errors accessing the pages.
Then upload the old folders and you should be golden.

If you changed sql servers, then goto your old host and open the cp and phpmyadmin, backup the sql database.
Then open your new host sql server and restore the database, change the wpconfig file to the correct server settings, again change the domain info in the db and you are set.

under tools just choose the export option then import it on the other site it will be an xml file then copy the wp folders over

Changed SQL servers…….. and I forgot to backup before my old host deleted everything because I switched to a new host.
