I want to use my ipad as a wacom tablet for photoshop on my imac.
So essentially I need an app or a way for my imac to recognize my ipad so then I can draw with my ipad onto the imac screen.

Any ideas?
i don’t know this off the top of my head, but how many pressure levels does the ipad have? (intuos4 has 2048)
Don’t know, but I do know with a stylus some great images can be created as I’ve seen around the web
Was looking into VNC, but its limited as you can’t control photoshop brushes and "pressing" the mouse to draw

I’m pretty sure a stylus won’t work with the iPad. Also, I don’t think apps get access to USB, so you’d presumably be sending data over Wifi.

Wacom is better and less expensive. I’d toss this idea.
Actually, there are plenty of stylus’s that work for the ipad. I have one myself. Wacoms are pretty expensive.

depends on the model though, there are some decent sized ones that are cheaper than an ipad and have a decent size drawing area, I was looking into them not too long ago

102 square inch drawing area for $450 and if you want smaller then its even cheaper

Granted the wacom can do a bit more drawing wise, I think the ipad is a good substitute as it has a million other features besides just drawing…Still looking for an answer to my question
Adobe is already working on a paint mixer for it..

I think pressure sensitivity for the pen is what would hold it back?
I love the idea of using an iPad as an arbitrary input device. Mixing some music? Throw up some volume mixers. Doing some Photoshop? Display some big icons with the most-used functions. Playing WoW? Your iPad becomes a big hotbar with your spells/abilities in a neat grid.

Goodbye, overpriced Optimus keyboard…
