I’m looking to redo one of my sites that I made by hand a few years ago. I get good organic traffic but have a horrible conversion rate and I’m thinking if I update it to one of those salesy sites that everyone seems to like I may do better.
Something like this kinda:
Actually I guess that works for the main page but the interior pages themselves would still probably be best with some actual content/product info, right?
I’m a fucking horrible salesman. I don’t know how to sell to regular people who don’t give a shit about facts and figures and objective data (the only stuff I actually care about when buying something ) Continue reading →

I want to build a site that will sell only a handful of items and was curious if either of these would be sufficient. I am not versed in site building and i like the simplicity of these themes/layouts.
Sup bros, this subforum looks dead as shit but I’ll try anyway. I’m trying to embed and position a google calendar on a webpage.
I’ve generated the code for the calendar and placed it inside a div. I’m using a CSS style to place it about 125px from the left of the container div and about 100px below the previous div (some bold text below the nav bar).
They’ll have an awesome demo so I know it’s possible for them to work, but when I install them they’re all crappy and half the stuff doesn’t work right, even after going through the help file (which is usually brief anyway)
edit - lol, this theme I was using had some spammy SEO links placed in the footer in tiny font. When I edited the code, it was some php $_F=__FILE__;$_X= bullshit so it was all garbled (so that Joe Schmoe WP user wouldn’t be able to remove it). It was tied it in with the legit footer code so you couldn’t just delete everything or it would break the theme. Lucky I found this site: and was able to remove the spammy parts. Continue reading →
I keep reading about people creating google accounts and boosting their rankings with fake reviews to places. I can’t imagine that working considering google is a huge company that would more than likely catch on quick.
It’s really really easy to do fake reviews on Google, BUT if a company is posting fake reviews and gets caught they will get beyond fucked. You’re looking at class-action lawsuits, etc. etc. Instead.. Make accounts and post testimonials you have from REAL customers and post them on there for them. It’s kind of a grey-area but it’s safe.. Basically what the title says…any advice/experience trading a website for a service or goods?
I do business with a few local "mom and pop" type shops and their website are absolutely awful.
I’d like to approach them and say "I’ll redesign your website for (insert product that you sell)"
Obviously I’d be a little more professional about it.
Have you guys done anything like this? Money is tight for a lot of businesses and I know that in other industries and trading for services is becoming more and more common. Continue reading →
