There are probably about 50 people I want to get my product in front of to really start moving forward, I’ve done a bit of targeted Facebook advertising - but that only gets you so far.

I am tossing around the idea of getting a Booklet printed up and mailing it to who I need to. (Granted, that will be the most difficult part, stalking their names )

I thought about a sales sheet, but in reality I don’t know if that would be any better. There are also sales letters, but I would think a "sexy" booklet would grab some attention. I would assume the letters would just be trashed.

done some targeted mailings and will be doing more in the near future for a new business venture
Any success with what you have done?

I am leaning towards a booklet, I just feel I can do a more compelling story. While a 9”x6” booklet folds into 4.5”x6” pages, I think I can easily sell what I need to.

i really have two separate goals 1) Get bought out or 2) Get people on board and pay me to host their solution.

#1 is my option of choice, but we shall see
A little, but I am marketing in a smaller town, so I am not sure if would be more successful in a bigger town

I am using it to advertise my business and get more people on board

the next set I will mail out will be for a different business and will tell other business what I can do for them

I have also looked into getting into local coupon books and mailings, they seem to be popular
How about trying to put an ad in local classified magazines? You can target your niche very well in them sometimes if you have the right offer.
I would say the effectiveness of mailing a booklet would heavily depend on what you are selling. Though, if you have a good idea of who to send it to then you might have pretty good results.

We advertise in magazines and get hundreds of requests for more information from it. We send out information packets to the people who request them but they rarely turn into sales. We mainly do it to keep our name visible in the industry.

My issue is I am trying to get ahold of members of boards of certain companies, IT directors, etc.

Yeah, the traction is the part I am having trouble figuring out what to do.

I don’t mind dropping $500 on something to see how it goes. Shit, that is nothing advertising wise. If I get it in the hands of 200 people, 20 read it, and 2 respond I’d be shits and grins. In reality, that is all I really want.

Again, the hard part is just finding the way to tell the right story that they want to pickup the phone right away. Then again, my gf is in advertising and is a copywriter, so I have that free resource

Thats the attitude we have as well. As for your "free resource", its sounds like a good bet to me. If you get any great insights from her post them up. Marketing is pretty much a black art to me. We spend most of our marketing effort trying to keep up with our competitors and attempting to make our ads etc. look nicer. This is after years of marketing neglect though so hopefully we’ll become more efficient with time.
I wouldn’t do a brochure if you’re mailing those kind of people. They probably get them daily and I’m sure most go straight into the trash can.

Direct response is one of my fav areas of marketing and I’ve read tons on it. If you’re willing to sink an evening or two into how to get people to open the mail you send them check out the book "Outrageous Advertising" by Bill Glazer. He’s a direct mail god and can teach you how to get your letters opened and read instead of cloning what everyone else is doing. Or…if you want a digital copy hit me up…

DL a d reading
maybe i should do something like get a 5′ Cardboard iPhone printed out and mail it to the people I want to get in touch with lol

Something like that is a much better idea. You have to peak their interest at first glance for them to even consider you. be creative & original, do something they’ve never seen.
Send something in a bubble package, not a typical letter. It will look like it’s important, and they’ll have to open it.

rofl fuck they are like $50 a pop lol

I wonder how the CEO’s and Presidents of the companies would like a 5′ iPhone delivered to their house

ill send a letter in bubble wrap

I’m sure it would work.

Spend the extra dorra on UPS or Fedex.
