I’m considering redesigning the current website that I manage. It’s a for a local news station here in town. Can anyone offer some creative feedback for me? What you like/dont like about the site?

I think it’s fine the way it is. Maybe just some tweaks, but I see nothing wrong with it.
Way too much info displayed, your eye isn’t directed anywhere. Way too many widget boxes, again too much info. No vertical rhythm, no typographical rhythm. The site has to be optimized, it’s a 2MB download for the homepage, 149 HTTP requests, 887KB of JS.
The navigation has to be broken down, it’s a complete mess and missing sections, i.e. how do you get to the health or money sections? You have to wait for everything to load, pick through the vomit and then when you get to, for example, health, you’re given a wall of links with no dates.

It’s a mess, needs a complete overhaul.

almost every local television site I have been on looks like the threadstarters

they are horrible, but it seems to be the industry standard

vouch, I mean if you look at Yahoo and sites like that. The most content you cram on the page the better a site seems to perform for them. Except Google of course.
