I swear to shit this better not turn into some SEO clusterfuck. Not interested in the "super secret algorithmic way of making you number one on Google!" I’m asking about real marketing here, not the voodoo bullshit.
Anyone know of any firms that are actually good? Good as in they have people that have graduate degrees in advertising/marketing.
if you don’t have a big budget it’ll be really hard to find anyone credible.
anything low budget is going to be a shitty american individual or a shitty company or individual outside of america.
I guess that’s your way of saying you don’t know of any?
Bruce Clay inc.
It’s all really subjective though, i can’t say i’ve ever used a big time firm. Are you just looking for SEO? PPC? old display marketing? I doubt there is a marketing company that will excel at everything…. i would question their talent.
Not cheap, but a friend of mine who graduated Stanford runs this one:

Just interested in general. Not for a particular client or anything. A list of some companies along with their specialties would be preferable as I can’t even manage to find that (I’ve found lists, but always from random sources, nothing concrete). Internet marketing is so overwhelmed with douchebags that it’s difficult to weed out the ones that are actually worthwhile.
Most of my clients have their own in-house marketing team that coordinates with me to code landing pages and the like as needed. But on the occasion that I do need marketing done, I enlist the help of a friend that’s a student in advertising. She’s great and all, but her schedule rarely permits dedication and web is not her specialty.

Also, I’ve heard of Bruce Clay because they’re on the IAC winners list. I’ve looked through winners list before, but I don’t know which of those are actually worthwhile.
I used to work for 90octane. I never did any of the marketing side of things though.
There is no secret algorithm, just lots of hard work staying on top of search results and keywords. Chase long instead of short.
