Basically I have a half rack and threw a spare server I had and put Red Hat on it and am running Plesk on it to host personal sites for free for the hell of it…nothing really important on it.
Today, I noticed the sites were down. I called support and had them check the server out…they said it was turned off, so they turned it on and I figured that’d do the trick.
Says the domain I want is on backorder and would receive it the second it becomes available. What the hell does that mean? How long would you think I would wait to receive it? There’s currently some website on the domain that like, doesn’t work or do anything.
Also, second question. If I register the domain and point it to my IP where I have a server hosting IIS and SMTP server, can I send mail through my SMTP server to other SMTP servers (gmail/yahoo/hotmail/whatever) since the domain resolves to my IP? Or do I need to buy ‘e-mail hosting’ with the domain in order to get a MX record and use the e-mail hosting as a relay.
When I mouse over any of the links it lists them in this context "http://www.smitherscustoms.com/www.smitherscustoms.com/services/" thus being a bad link. The rest of the pages are fine just this one.
I’m on 2.7 or whatever was current a few months ago. Now it’s all like "you should upgrade to 2.8" but I have a whole bunch of WP sites and I don’t want to upgrade them all cuz I’m worried something might get goofed up.
it’s 99% going to just be security patches, you might be prone to getting hacked
I had a few plug-ins fuck up when I went to 2.8.
I usually update the plug-ins before I update wordpress
I haven’t had a website since I took my college design portfolio offline years ago. I’m completely new to blogging besides subscribing to a ton of other design blogs. I’ve been wanting to create a design blog for a while now. Finally sat down and did it. I really moved out of my comfort zone with the look of it. Tried to use a color scheme that I can’t use on some of my clients’ boring corporate sites.
I used Expression Engine CMS and updated to the newest version 2.0 yesterday. I really like it. Still getting used to the admin, it’s not as user friendly as I think it should be. Anyway, critique away! Continue reading Critique my new site please!→
As a graphic designer turned web designer, I struggle when the WYSWYG of the HTML editor i’m using shows an inaccurate display in design view.
I just can’t see myself hand code everything without looking in design view. Doing F12 / preview in browser gets tedious and slows down my work as well.
Am I the only one here who struggles with this?
Ibeteveryoneherehandcodeswithoutdesignview.
I used to use dreamweaver to design with, now I just crack open notepad and do it
I know you can go to file and go to save for web and devices but I can’t figure out how to slice links in and what not.
I’ll tell you for more pics of your AV.
Well anyways;
Get your image
Slice it up
File > Save for web & devices
You can pick settings for each slice
Hit save and you’re done. It will save each slice as a file, so, 1 file per sliced area.
Why not just code it yourself?
There was a website that would do it, but i forget the name of it. Also, it costs money
