Ok, I just want to preface by saying I am not advertising our hosting, simply asking for recommendations on pricing. We think our price point seems ok, but we would like to hear some recommendations from some other people where we could do better, or if you think our prices are acceptable. The site is for the shared hosting. Again, we are not currently advertising for our services, just asking for opinions on our prices. If anyone thinks this should be border line advertising, please mention it, then I will delete the thread. Thanks.

Your design very much resembles something of a Counterstrike clan website.

is that bad or good? or just a general observation?

yeah design isn’t great for a professional webhost.

also, whoops?

hmm doesn’t do that for me in google chrome on a mac. let me install it on one of my PC’s and see what it looks like…

Thats weird. Never saw it do that before

works now

It’s doing the above for me in chrome as well

A lot of it’s wrong but that banner in particular needs work. All that use of drop shadows with the text make things seem blurry and hard to read. You’d really want your logo text ‘true negative’ to be sharper. ‘reliable hosting made simple’ is hard to read because of the drop shadow but also because it’s dark red on top of a dark grey gradient.

Do you really need such a fat banner on top anyway? Looks like that wordpress kubrick theme.

Oh yeah, I’m not seeing shit in Chrome for those links either.

i just noticed the tiny ass testimonials at the top.

honestly bro, in terms of design, i could make up a longass list of things you’ll need to fix.

in terms of pricing, erm… I gotta wonder how you guys compete with companies like fatcow that offer unlimited everything for shared hosting for $5.50 a month.

and for $8.30 a month you’re offering 10GB of space and 50GB of bandwidth?

godaddy’s deluxe plan offers 150GB of space and 1,500GB of bandwidth for $6~ a month

in conclusion, from the consumer’s standpoint i have no idea of why your hosting company is any better than one of these larger ones.

Thanks for the design suggestions. I’m going to make some of the changes over the next few days to hopefully clean up the design. We were pretty happy with the design overall, and we’re not trying to compete with the megauberultraoversold hosting companies. We’re just a small business with some very happy clients and some fast servers.

I don’t understand why so many people get so hyped up on the numbers game. Most people would never even dream to use the amounts of bandwidth that most places are offering. i dunno though.

Thanks again for the suggestions, and we’ll figure in some changes

how’s this for a mindbender? this layout problem happens on a page that is loaded because I clicked its link in the left-side navigation. if I manually refresh the page, it will never happen. if I click a navigation link, it always happens.

the content loads in the right place and then pops down.. so maybe it’s a javascript issue?

edit: this actually happens on any page on your site that loads from a link I clicked on the site, but manually refreshing always fixes it.

that is really weird! it probably is a javascript issue with loading the sidebar and something like that. I know I was fighting with some of the coding to get certain things to load properly.

its happening to me in Firefox on w7 too.

Not saying you’re wrong, but there’s more to it than that. There’s customer service, speed, uptime, the fact that "unlimited bandwidth" isn’t quite unlimited, etc.

what matters is whether or not the customer knows that

Truth. :-/
