I am either having a mental breakdown or just not thinking tonight. I mainly just specialize in getting wordpress sites up and running, doing all the leg work and SEO copywriting for clients. Whats the best way I can show an in-progress website without taking down their current one?
Maybe grab a url thats junk I paid for….do it all, download then upload to the new FTP?
Wordpress on another URL. Save the database, posts, etc. Once it’s all finished, and they can test it out. Then move it on over to the new domain, set everything up, import database, etc.
, I personally would just send them screenshots if they had to ask. But coding jobs and you get nothing, but design jobs you’ll get updates every day.
I use my business url and create seperate folders for each client, when it goes live I delete it
.
quoted for truth. also for safety i password protect the domain on my server and make it viewable only when logged in

Sounds like a stupid question

Yes. You can do. Domain.com/install1 (name it anything, make a million of them), when you are done, delete the 1-click install..

if it’s going to be temporary, use a subdomain. if not business1.chemicalviper.com at least do dev.chemicalviper.com/business1
Back when I did this stuff regularly (forums mostly) I did subdomains … easy to setup most times and you have to reconfigure domain stuff anyways so you didn’t have to mess with paths too much …
There are themes developed for that. You just upload them and activate them, and put in the date. Elegantthemes, themesforest, etc has them as part of their large packages but perhaps they are for sale separately. Best of luck
