Running WP for several years, no problems running Contact Form 7 as a plugin. My host, Dreamhost, and a few others I’ve checked out, including bluehost.com, have started to implement anti-spam policies that basically prohibit the spoofing of an email address in a contact form.
A visitor to a site fills out Name / Email on the form, the email in my inbox says it’s from the visitor, even though it’s been sent through my web host.
I’ve done it once before, loved the traffic, great way to promote a site.. But a part of me still thinks it’s a bad idea.. Had one advertiser that was angry because someone click-bombed their ads.. Other than that, add in domain privacy, what else would there be to cover?
I used to get a decent amount of traffic from a site I made for OT. ould I advertise? fuck no. You could get way more hits for cheaper on other sites.
Money doesn’t really matter.. The word of mouth from the site ftw. Plus I could make that $ back easily enough.
I have 4 different domains that I’m consolidating into one domain with three subdomains. Each domain is it’s own WordPress installation. For now, I just put all four WordPress installations on the new server as it’s own instance. Sloppy, I know, but time was important.
Here’s the problem. I need to do 301 redirects for SEO purposes. For the most part, this was effortless. I’m running into trouble with the master domain though. Since the subdomains are hosted in a folder on the same server, they are picking up the .htaccess rules at the root and causing a redirect loop. Continue reading 301 Redirect .htaccess issue→
I’m not going to lie here, I’m kind of nervous for feedback. Normally I love C&C, but I have put like 6+ months of my blood tears and soul into this app, so this time it’s somewhat nerve-wracking. I learned rails just to build this, and its my first ever ‘app’
I have noticed a trend in a lot of different places where people are always asking for tutorials and resources. There are blog posts.. places like OT or reddit for discussion, places like Stack Overflow for questions, but theres no centralized hub for RESOURCES. That is what I hope to solve. Forums, sites, whatever.. Looking hard and not finding much. Trying to avoid search/social as both haven’t worked out well. Does anyone have any ideas on where to do this at? Recently, did the OT sticky deal and that worked out decent, but after day two I could tell it wouldn’t be sustainable to purchase. Will keep doing it once a month to expand reach..
But in the mean time, really looking for new places to advertise. Just have no idea where to start. Contacted other forums/sites but most are looking at packages min $500/month for "banner ads". And most sell per impressions.. And that’s just one site. Continue reading Best Places To Advertise Or Buy Ads? Or To Promote In General?→
Hows everyone doing, what’s the latest gossip or your most recent success story? I’ll share: Glad I got out of EMD’s years ago, unfortunate for webmasters with Google’s new update. On all the forums, people are freaking out taking hits on 90% of their sites, lol. I wonder if that was the "shocking" and "jolting" update G tweeted about…
So, according to Google Analytics, I get about 100/day from Google(makes zero sense)… according to Awstats, I get about 900/day on a particular site.
After realizing that I’m ranked #4, #6, and #10 for a pretty popular term on Google Images(#1 on search would send me about 18k/day)….. it’s obvious Google Analytics is way, way off.
I’ve never seen/caught such a huge discrepancy between two analytics programs… anyone else experience this?
