Google +1 button comes out tomorrow

Oh, Google. Hate to do this again, but you really need to lock up these partners and get your PR in order.

A week after we got a pitch from a partner NFC company all-but-confirming that Google

Godaddy owns the domain name I want

Ever go to buy a domain and godaddy owns it? It’s an obscure name, so i’m not sure why they would have it registered….

says it expires on 7/14/2011…. any chance it will open up for purchase?

Possibly, but most large domain registrars also operate sister domain warehousing operations that renew expired customer domains and either park them for revenue or auction them off.

You could try going via SnapNames/Namejet to attempt to acquire it.

Any of you contribute to any open source projects?

Anything new or interesting you’re working on?

every time I write something that I think I should contribute, I suddenly find an existing project doing the same thing that I couldn’t find before I wrote mine.

luckily this really only happens on small things that only take a few hours, but it’s still annoying after the 2nd or 3rd.. or 8th time…

How hard or $$$ does something like this take to make?

I want to do it with xbox temps and other temps to make decals out of.

Something where the customer can upload their own image and shape it to there liking!

Funny I built a clone of that site for a now defunct company a few years back. That was my only major flash project thankfully, but I can’t imagine it would be less than 10 grand if you want a backend, likely much more.

This piece helped the project greatly for me

man I hate music on sites

fucking idiot put the player buttons so tiny in the footer, so easy to miss

website is for a place where they print shit on metal, so the music is not needed

would almost be worth it for an autoplay in this thread

its not even subtle, quiet music.

its some blaring bullshit

Agreed.

I also hate sites that disable middle click new tab.

And I really hate sites that even have ctrl+click new tab disabled (sometimes ctrl+tab works even if middle click doesn’t).

peopleofwalmart.com v. any legal issues

does a site like this present any legal issues for posting peoples pictures? Sign off needed or since it is public place with a snapped photo, no issues?

should be sweet with a picture removal request form

I’m no lawyer but I would think there are at least a couple legal concerns…first, like you said, posting pictures of people without release. Don’t think it matters if it is a public place or not…which it isn’t, right?

Also the domain uses the trademark which could easily be taken.

Submitting to search engines

What is the best way to submit a new site to as many search engines as possible for free and all at once?

noone uses search engines anymore just post them on facebook.

Do you make a fan page just for your business? I did something like that for one of our sites but haven’t made much of an effort to add people because it seemed like it took a lot of time and wasn’t sure of the pay off.

Hiring: Entry-level HTML programmer (emails mostly)

I’m hiring an entry-level HTML programmer (emails mostly), if you know anyone let me know! Full-time, on-site, contract (hourly, no benefits, but unlimited overtime), with tons of room for advancement for the right person.

All you really need to know is how to take a PSD, cut it up, and turn it into a tabled email. You’ll also be doing sales support so be good on the phone and have good customer service. It’s a close-knit working environment and casual. Jeans and sneakers.
