whats the best site that has wordpress themes ? I want something very "pro" looking… like techcrunch.com looks kind of…. im wiling to pay like 10 bucks max for a theme…. dont see the point in paying more. I see free ones eveywhere but they look like crap and "simplistic"…. never seen a popular blog that had a simple layout but thats just me.
2. my current theme is a free one but on the homepage it shows the entirety of the blog posts, how do i make it so it just cuts off afterer the first paragraph….(break)
I would like some better themes as well..I usually use templatic themes but they cost abit
don’t waste our time
$10? , you do realize that design and coding alone for a decent theme run around $500+ for even basic ones.. Designer and Coders don’t do work for free.. Unless you can do it yourself.
lol $500 for a wordpress theme, what a rip off
He is talking custom designed ones
its not even a wordpress theme if its custom, its just a straight up coded website…
My custom themes for clients start at $1500, average is around $1900.
well im not asking for custom themes, just somewhat "nicer than free" themes
Would anyone know how to go about making a page like this:
?
It is so incredibly fast, smooth and simple.
Jesus I hate helping this guy, seems like an complete idiot.
Go to themeforest.net and have some appreciation for those making the themes.

It’s only a 274.3 KB page size. It’s about the same size as Google and Facebook homepages. Which is really tiny… They are around 200 KB. Average site out there is around 320KB. It’s all about having fast hosting though. That website for me loaded in the blink of an eye, every page seemed to load with the click, no wait at all.. My site now is about 1.4MB, it’s really long for a webpage, but it loads in about a second or two.
Some things are server type, server location, well coded pages, speed optimized coding, optimized images (this is a big part), among other things. As of right now I’m working on something myself. That 1.4MB homepage is mostly from 10-15 JPG article images that I haven’t compressed. After that’s all worked out and a few other tweaks I believe it can drop down to around 400-500KB or much less. Want to work on doing PNG files or compressed jpgs not sure which one yet.
Anyways test for yourself.
That’s a great price for a custom site if you aren’t doing any of the work yourself… You expect someone to provide you a FREE or $10 theme, do you even understand all the work and $$ that go into making that theme in the first place? Themes don’t just get build for nothing…
Also if you are so cheap why don’t you make your own or learn? Assuming you know so much about how they should cost.. You try designing it and coding it from scratch, good luck with that.. You’ll spend forever working on it alone.
are you fucking stupid or something?

thanks for the link dude. looks great and exactly what i wanted
pretend i didnt say that
No substitute for making one yourself.
Sure it takes a load of time to learn the specifics but if you grab a free one and hack the hell out of it then atleast its your theme and not a "paid" one.
Or jump on the net and try out the theme creators out there?

this is what im leaning towards. I know some html and CSS (nothing to brag about) so this is what i would want to do… hack an existing theme…
thanks for link
You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
